Championship standings with three meetings left to run!
With three meetings left to run in the Wessex Area the Championships standings are still all to play for! Results are on here (click on Championships and are up to 19th April but soon to be officially updated).
The two Spillers Leading Trainers titles are hotting up with title holder Chris Barber nudging ahead again of Harry Ryall in the larger string category while Sam Loxton may have been joined by Lily Bradstock in the smaller string division.
It’s getting very tight at the top with James King still clinging on to the Spillers Men’s Rider title but with a double on Easter Monday for Will Biddick, he’s now within a couple of points of James, with National title contender, Josh Newman back in third.
The Spillers Ladies Title is still led by Olive Nicholls from Lily Bradstock and Anna Johnston while Rian Corcoran has a commanding lead in the Spillers Novice Rider’s title from James Shaw and Peter Summers. Spillers Leading Owner is a four-way tie at the top between Crawter, Duc de Beauchene, Punches Cross and Switch Hitter while it looks like the 2023 winner, Dr Rhythm has joined them too after a third at Cothelstone.
Other Awards which could be fought out of the three remaining meetings are the Brian Armstrong and Peter Maunsell Memorial Trophy has Crawter in first place and ten points clear from Noble Blue and Snapfish. The Wincanton Novice Championship is currently led by Snapfish with Crawter and Elle est Beau in second and third respectively. The Greenslade Taylor Hunt Trophy was a two way tie between Punches Cross and Switch Hitter but a Restricted win at Cothelstone for Will Biddick’s Far Out West may have propelled her into the lead. Hugh Lillingston and Jack Veysey lead the John Dufosee Trophy while Robbie David has secured the Dick & Sue Woodhouse Trophy.
Keep checking the website for updates and we hope all of those who are mentioned are available to come to the Awards evening on Saturday 28th June (full details on the Wessex website) as there are prizes for the first three in each of the Spillers awards so bring your friends too as it’s a great evening!!
