Wessex based Ed Doggrell wins PPORA April Jockey of the Month Award

Wessex PRP Bob Bracher nominated Ed Doggrell for the above award for his five riding victories in April.

Although he rode his first winner on Virginia Ash at Littlewindsor in May 2016 another winner did not arrive until he rode a winner in Ireland earlier this season.

Now aged 20 and working alongside Will Biddick, he has matured as a jockey and his first riding treble was secured at the Portman Badbury Rings fixture aboard Mike Felton’s Bistouri d’Honore in the Novice Riders race, Tom Barton in the Mixed Open and Flights in the Confined Hunts race was a fantastic achievement.

The last two named horses are trained by Sally Alner who was very complimentary about Ed’s riding. 

The month concluded with another double this time on Bistouri d’Honore in the Novice Riders race and Hugos Horse in the Maiden at Axe Vale for Rose Loxton.
