There's only one meeting left to run in the Wessex Area and the Championships standings are all to play for with several significant changes to the leader boards! Results are on the Pointing Wessex website (www.pointingwessex.co.uk click on Championships and they are shown up to Sunday 3rd May but we’ve had another meeting since then so changes have occurred although they are not officially verified yet!).

In a nail-biting finish to the season, the Spillers Leading Large Trainers title has flip-flopped yet again with Will Biddick relegated by title holder Chris Barber (only 7 points in it) with Josh Newman back in third in the larger string category.  In the smaller string division, Bea Coward stillleads but Teresa Clark looks like she may have leapt into second ahead of Sam Loxton in third spot.

There’s a good battle too in the Spillers Men’s Rider title and after Holnicote it looks like Josh Newman is now only 2 points clear with Ed Doggrell leap-frogging James King to take second spot.

The Spillers Ladies Title is still led by Aimee Jones with Anna Johnston 6 points behind her while Lucy Mager is in third.  The Spillers Novice Rider’s title still has Jack Stenhouse in the lead but Lucas Murphy is joined by Aimee Jones to tie on second with Fred Philipson-Stow dropping to third.

Joan Hitchings’ Grace a Vous Enki has dominated the Spillers Leading Owner as he does at Larkhill and could be hard to catch this year. Peter and Kathy Musgrave’s Ninth Wave has propelled himself into second with Jeremy Hill’s Dollanstown joining him after a win at Holnicote.

The Brian Armstrong and Peter Mansell Memorial Trophy and the Wincanton Novice Championship both look like they could be heading to Jeremy Hill’s Dollanstown who is 17 points clear in both from Carillo and Follow My Order

The Greenslade Taylor Hunt Trophy now has Ninth Wave 6 points clear from a four-way tie for second between Far Out West, Dollanstown, Duc de Bourbon and Far Out WestIvor Herbert was tied with Lucy Mager for the John Dufosee Trophy but Lucy bagged another third at Holnicote so goes one clear with several tied for third, Milo Herbert, Emma Freeman, Lucy Pickford and Douglas White while Josh Newman has already secured the Dick & Sue Woodhouse Trophy.

Keep checking the website for updates and we hope all of those who are mentioned are available to come to the Awards evening on Saturday 4th July in its brand new venue of Wincanton Racecourse (full details on the Wessex website) as there are prizes for the first three in each of the Spillers awards so bring your friends too as it’s a great evening!!
