Recognising the important link between Point-to-Pointing and NH Racing, Wincanton Racecourse supports all Wessex Area meetings as well as sponsoring the Area's Leading Novice Horse Championship.

A presentation was made to the winning connections during an evening's racing at Wincanton Racecourse

For the purposes of this Championship a Novice Horse is one that has won a Wessex Area Maiden Race in the current season.

 

Scoring

 POINTS COULD BE SCORED IN ANY GB P-TO-P RACE OR HUNTER CHASE

Until then Maiden winners at Wessex Area meetings may score points in all their subsequent races as follows:

Restricteds: 10 pts for 1st, 5 pts for 2nd, 3 pts for 3rd

Other P-t-P races excluding Opens (see below): 15 pts for 1st, 9 pts for 2nd, 6 pts for 3rd

Mens, Ladies and Mixed Opens: 20 pts for 1st, 15 pts for 2nd, 12 pts for 3rd

Hunter Chases: 30 pts for 1st, 20 pts for 2nd, 15 pts for 3rd

In the case of a dead heat, the points for the particular position shall be added to that of the next position and divided equally between those involved
